Our lovely Gara gusts are also looking ahead to 2022 and so next year's availability is also booking quickly. As soon as you have your 2022 dates, we'd recommend reserving your stay, and don't worry, you are covered by our booking promise.
Paul Hegley and his team are serving up delicious meals in our restaurant and on our beautifully landscaped terrace, with our new OX Grill and 'Over the Coals' menu. Make the most of sunny dates and enjoy some alfresco dining while soaking up the views.
The lounge bar, restaurant, and our Wild Rock Spa are open only to residents of the hotel. Although, non-hotel residents can make a restaurant reservation. You are of course free to use the Garavan and enjoy the outdoor terraces.

The frequency of cleaning of our guest areas has increased specifically including but not just limited to; reception, lounge, bar, restaurant, cinema room, spa, pool, hard surfaces, door handles, public bathrooms, etc and we have continued the use of appropriate and recommended types of disinfectant and cleaning materials.
We naturally continue to clean on both arrival and departure of all internal and external areas of our guest accommodation, all linens, towels, etc are professionally cleaned, and replaced, and we have enhanced cleaning procedures in place for our housekeeping teams.
Gara Booking Promise
In these unprecedented times, things are changing at the drop of a hat. But don't let that stop you from planning your getaway and enjoying a relaxing stay with us at Gara Rock.
That is why we have created our booking promise. If your holiday has to change, due to UK Government legislation and either the hotel has had to close or if it is unlawful for you to travel or stay overnight due to the tier restrictions at your primary residence then we will move your booking free of charge* or issue you with a credit voucher** and of course if necessary we'll give you a full refund.
No Fuss, No Hassle, No Problem.
*Move your booking - We will help you move your booking to a later date with no fees, if the cost of your new stay is higher than your original booking, then you’ll need to pay the difference, if it's lower we will refund the difference.
**Credit Voucher – If you are not sure when you want to rebook for, we can issue you a credit voucher for the amount you have currently paid for your stay. We will hold the credit safely and securely for you and issue you a credit voucher for you to use when you are ready to book. The credit vouchers can be used on stays arriving before 31st December 2021.

Yes, every accommodation has access to the pool and spa facilities included with the stay. You do not need to make a booking for the swimming pool, we just ask that our guests maintain social distancing and ensure we do not exceed the maximum of 15 swimmers in the indoor pool at any one time. The outdoor pool will be open from April to October, weather dependant.
All our hotel accommodation, which includes the Sunset View Rooms, all types of Suites, the Secret Suite, Signal House and the Penthouse, offer complimentary breakfast in our restaurant.
Our Apartments and Garden Apartments are all self-catering and so breakfast is not included within the price of the stay. Guests staying in our Apartments are welcome to join us for breakfast, this can be booked directly with the hotel's Guest Services team on +44 (0)1548 845 946
The nearest supermarket is either Tesco or Morrison’s in Kingsbridge which is approximately a 35 minute drive from the hotel. We do advise that you stop for any groceries on your way to Gara Rock as you will most likely drive through Kingsbridge.
The closest petrol station is the Texaco garage in East Charleton which is approximately a 25 minute drive, the postcode is TQ7 2AP.
We are on the other side of the estuary to Salcombe, to drive to Salcombe from the hotel takes approx. 1 hour. There is a passenger ferry which leaves from below the Venus café at East Portlemouth daily and takes you across the estuary to Salcombe (please check timings with Guest Services on the day as the ferry times are seasonal).
The ferry crossing takes approx. 5 minutes and costs £2 per person, they do accept contactless payment and dogs. To get to East Portlemouth there are two walks to choose from which start from the hotel; the beautiful South West Costal path which takes 45 minutes to an hour, you will have views of the spectacular coastline. A shorter walk is through the woods which is more direct and takes approx. 30 minutes.
You are more than welcome to bring your canine friend to join you for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We welcome dogs in both the lounge and restaurant. Some of our accommodation is pet friendly, if your accommodation has a garden it will be pet friendly. We charge £40 to bring your dog for a short break, or £60 for a week-long stay.
The cinema is a complimentary facility for our guests. You can book a cinema slot when you check-in to the hotel and we will provide you with a list of films to choose from. You can book a slot throughout the day at 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm or 9pm depending on availability. It will just be your party in the cinema at any one time and you are able to bring your own DVD for us to play if you have a favourite.
Our self-catering apartments consist of a full kitchen including oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dish washer and washing machine. We provide cooking utensils and crockery so you will just need to bring the food. There will be tea bags, a cafetiere and coffee, washing up liquid, kitchen towel, a washing up sponge and tea towel already there in the kitchen for you.
We also provide all bed linen and towels along with toilet roll, body wash, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner.
The restaurant and residents lounge are on street level and we do have a lift down to the spa, pool and cinema room. Some accommodation can be accessed via this lift or are already on street level without stairs in the accommodation. The accommodation includes the Sunset View rooms, Junior Suites 1, 5, 15, 16 and Suites 8 and 9. Please call us to ensure you are booked into the most suitable room for your requirements.
We are very lucky to be perched on the edge of a cliff, so all our accommodation have lovely sea views.
Our hotel rooms (Sunset View, Junior Suites, Suites and Out of the Ordinary Suites) have a Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, hairdryer, slippers and dressing gowns.
All bathrooms have complimentary body wash, body lotion shampoo and conditioner.
The Penthouse and Signal House also have kitchens including hob, oven, microwave, fridge and freezer.
The self-catering Apartments and Garden Apartments have well equipped kitchens, see above FAQ for more details.
Sunset View Rooms have a bath with overhead rainfall shower
The Penthouse has a roll top bath in the master bedroom and rainfall shower. There is also a shower over the bath in the third bathroom and a rainfall shower in the double bedroom ensuite bathroom
The Secret Suite has both roll top bath and rainfall shower
The Signal House has both bath and rainfall shower
Some Junior Suites have a roll top bath in the bedroom and rainfall shower in the bathroom.
Suites have a rainfall shower (some Suites have a bath with rainfall shower over it, please call us to secure your preference)
Garden Suites have rainfall shower (some Garden Suites have a bath with rainfall shower over it, please call us to secure your preference)
Garden Apartments and Apartments have both bath and shower in the family bathroom.
The pool is open to all guests every day from 8am until 8pm, there are no specific times for children. Children under 16 years must be supervised all times whilst using the indoor/outdoor pools. The outdoor pool is open from April until October (weather dependant).
Children under 16 are unable to use the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna due to the high heat, please see our spa policy for full details of age restrictions.
