Luxury coastal property developer, Coast Group, has been awarded a ‘Considerate Construction Award’ by the Considerate Constructors Scheme for its spectacular South Devon holiday development, Gara Rock. The national award recognises excellent standards of attention to and respect for developers’ workforces, neighbours and local environments and was presented on April 14th at Plaisterers’ Hall, London.

Sam Dickson (Development Director), Jess Russell (Head of Customer Care, Marketing & PR) and Gabby Hyde (Development Executive) were delighted to collect this award on behalf of Coast Constructors Ltd (above photograph).

The Gara Rock site in East Portlemouth was commended for its high standards of cleanliness, responsibility, accountability and safety and won the award for its exceptional achievements in considering the local environment and neighbours during development of the exclusive holiday retreat.

Only the top 7.5 per cent of British construction companies were shortlisted to receive the honour of being named Most Considerate Constructor and the coseted award, which was presented by Bovis Lend Lease Chairman, John Spanswick CBE, places Coast Group in the top 3 per cent of considerate builders in the UK.

Apartments: Substructure works including under-slab drainage and Beam & Block flooring now complete and we are nearing completion of the retaining wall to the rear.

Grounds: Installation of foul and storm water drainage is complete and foul treatment tanks have been concreted and backfilled.

West wing: Part of the steel frame has been erected and first floor pre-cast concrete planks have been placed.The indoor swimming pool reinforced concrete enclosure is nearing completion in readiness for the next phase of steelwork erection followed by construction of the pool itself.

A meeting with the structural steelwork supplier to agree delivery and phasing of steel work deliveries has taken place followed by a full Design Team meeting on site.

Construction is continuing on the swimming pool retaining wall and retaining wall behind the Apartments.

The foul treatment tank has received shuttering in preparation for the final pour of concrete surround. The retaining wall base to the swimming pool enclosure concrete poured and the reinforcement to the stem of this wall is continuing.

Completion of substructure works including under-slab drainage and Beam & Block ground floor. Erection of scaffolding in preparation for the erection of the timber frame.

Drainage

Installation of foul treatment tanks and concrete surround in readiness for backfill with excavated material.

Apartments

Completion of substructure works including under-slab drainage and Beam & Block ground floor. Commencement of retaining wall to rear of Apartments.

West Wing

Completion of Units 1-3 underslab masonry walls and drainage. Excavation for Pool Hall and commencement of the reinforced concrete retaining walls to Pool enclosure.
